At a time when India’s underserved communities had no access to microinsurance, HFF pioneered an insurance program in the year 2000, benefiting 65,000 families across eight states. With the launch of the Government’s Universal Health Insurance scheme and insights from our own experience, we shifted our focus to prevention and community empowerment. Throughout this journey, our commitment has remained the same—bringing healthcare to remote villages, creating sustainable access to health facilities, and fostering long-term health-seeking behaviors. As our impact grows, so do our healing fields.
Founded in 2000 by Ashoka Fellow Mukti Bosco, HFF is headquartered in Hyderabad, Telangana. Today, we work across 7,000 villages in 50 districts spanning Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, and Jharkhand. Our mission is to build a strong community culture of preventive healthcare by integrating three key themes:
As a donor of Healing Fields Foundation, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of those we serve. Your support will help us to expand our programs and services, reach more people in need, and make a lasting difference in the community. Contact us today to learn more about becoming a donor.
We are evolving with the times, integrating digital technologies as a powerful enabler of empowerment. With the rapid expansion of digital access and smartphone penetration in India, we are developing our HFF technology platform—an innovative system designed to help us scale and seamlessly integrate our various initiatives.
This platform will serve as a continuum of infrastructure, incorporating multiple work components, audit and tracking modules, and a phased rollout of a Learning Management System (LMS) for training. It will also feature an outreach module to extend healthcare access to the last mile through digital pathways. A longitudinal survey module will enable ongoing community assessments, helping us understand health-seeking behaviors and refine our interventions accordingly.
Technology is at the core of our organizational growth strategy, supported by a year-round training calendar and a comprehensive training philosophy. Our approach ensures that both knowledge and character development are embedded in the curriculum. At HFF, training is not just about capacity building—it is a bundled service that we offer to other social organizations.
We have a well-tested and proven pedagogy for training health entrepreneurs and health change agents, along with specialized modules tailored for specific healthcare areas. Capacity building, data-driven decision-making, and evidence-based interventions form the foundation of HFF’s impact-driven approach.
Mukti Bosco speaks at the 2014 Mayo Clinic Transform conference, examining the widespread impact of the current healthcare crisis, particularly in terms of access and affordability.
