An assortment of behaviour influencing projects make our current mix. Training, capacity building focused on changing the equilibrium of health seeking behaviour, mapping and predicting health-related behaviours, helping women with disaster preparedness.
Our flagship Community Health Entrepreneurs (CHEs) program trains women from resource-poor communities to become health catalysts in their villages. CHEs lead health education, promote behavior change, and provide first aid and non-emergency healthcare services. They also mobilize community-level activities and facilitate access to government healthcare programs.
CHEs come from the community and work for the community, ensuring that change is driven by those who understand local challenges firsthand. Our approach fosters ownership of health, ensures access to entitled services, and promotes behavioral shifts. Additionally, we enable CHEs to generate income by offering telehealth services and selling health and sanitation products, creating sustainable livelihoods.
Our Foundational Program blends health and entrepreneurship training, equipping women with the skills and confidence to serve their communities independently. Through classroom sessions, guest lectures, group discussions, community projects, and internships, CHEs gain practical expertise. We currently implement this program in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh.
To deepen our impact and address the inaccessibility of medical centers in remote villages, our Telehealth Facilitator program trains selected CHEs to provide quality healthcare through digital platforms. These CHEs anchor a continuum of care, including screenings, identification, doctor consultations, and follow-ups to ensure adherence to treatment plans.
Telehealth CHEs receive comprehensive training in:
Upon completing the training, Telehealth CHEs receive a medical kit with essential tools like infrared thermometers, glucometers, weighing scales, pulse oximeters, first aid kits, and masks.
At the village level, Telehealth CHEs identify high-risk individuals, organize screening camps in collaboration with PHCs & CHCs, and ensure regular consultations. They also counsel families on disease management, emphasizing lifestyle and dietary changes to foster long-term health improvements.
The School Health Champions (SHCs) program empowers students to become health leaders in their schools and villages. Trained by CHEs, these students catalyze behavioral shifts in their families and communities, fostering lifelong health awareness.
By introducing health education at an early stage, students are more likely to adopt and sustain healthy practices related to hygiene, nutrition, and menstrual hygiene.
The program targets adolescent girls and boys in government and affordable private schools. To date, 7,830 SHCs across Bihar and Telangana have been trained as agents of change. These students:
With extreme weather events such as floods, heatwaves, and droughts affecting rural communities, the need for disaster preparedness has never been greater. These natural disasters disrupt livelihoods, increase health risks, and create economic vulnerabilities.
CHEs play a vital role in equipping their communities with disaster readiness knowledge and mobilization skills. To strengthen community resilience, Healing Fields Foundation has launched a Disaster Management Training program that prepares CHEs to handle pre-, during-, and post-disaster scenarios.
The training covers:
This initiative ensures that rural communities are prepared, informed, and capable of responding effectively to health emergencies in times of crisis.
The rising burden of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in India poses a serious challenge to the country’s healthcare system. To address this, Healing Fields Foundation has partnered with Christian Medical College Vellore and the National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad to conduct a Bio-Behavioral study. This study assesses the effectiveness of behavior change interventions within CHE communities, aiming to prevent and manage NCDs through lifestyle modifications.
By examining the interplay between biological and behavioral factors, this initiative highlights how lifestyle choices influence disease prevalence.
At its core, this program is about creating lasting change at the grassroots level. Through education, personalized interventions, and community-driven initiatives, we foster a culture of health awareness and disease prevention.
By empowering individuals with knowledge and resources, we aspire to inspire a paradigm shift toward healthier behaviors. Our goal is not just to manage diseases but to enable sustainable health transformations that strengthen community well-being for generations to come.
